Today’s Outfit – Youthful elegance

Again, I fib. The outfit I am about to discuss isn’t what I wore today. In fact, I haven’t worn this exact outfit for about 2 months when I was in Mexico City, Mexico.

After fleeing the historic centre of Mexico City due to major riots, I moved to the upmarket suburb of Polanco – the home of Mexico City’s rich and famous. Not only did I stay in a phenomenal hotel (post to come), I was also surrounded by some fabulous shops, museums, restaurants. So what does a single girl do to keep herself entertained in an exciting foreign city? Go out, of course!

Even though I only had the clothes in my (over sized and stuffed) suitcase, I managed to pull this outfit together.

This dress was perfect for the trip. This photo was the first time I wore it while overseas, but I proceeded to wear it at least another 5-6 times over the next 2 months. It’s comfortable, but still smart enough to wear in a variety of establishments – from an upmarket French eatery (where I went this night), through to salsa dancing in Cuba, and going to my favourite bar in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

The built in waist band on the dress makes it a flattering fit because it emphasises my natural shape by pulling the outfit in at the waist, while the bell skirt makes for an elegant, feminine and polished look. The added texture of the 3 lines across the bottom of the skirt makes the overall look more interesting.

I paired it with a simple, mint coloured knit cardigan which provided the perfect pop of colour for the white dress. For shoes, I wore patent mint coloured flats.

This summer, I certainly plan on wearing this outfit many, many times!
